LĪMEN Series, 2025 / 2026
Graphite and concrete on 640gsm paper 88cm x 68cm (framed)
Līmen draws on the brutalist architecture of artist's Yugoslav heritage, juxtaposing pencil-rendered equine forms with concrete structures to articulate psychological thresholds. The horse—symbolising autonomy and defiance—exists in tense relation to geometric constraints that suggest both physical and internal boundaries. The work extends this dialogue through material paradox: the fragility of graphite and paper against the weight of concrete. Each drawing becomes a site of negotiation between movement and stillness, emotion and imposed order—exploring endurance, confinement, and the will to transcend limitation.
